Ribiškės Nature Reserve was established to protect and preserve the large eroded fan-shaped hills with their distinguished relief, the typical mosaic of farmlands and homesteads situated in the arroyos, the woody ridges, parts of mature oak groves valuable in terms of botany, meadows with creeks and rare plants and the Kaukysa Creek reminding of the Baltic mythology. “I know no other such relief in Lithuania and nothing remotely similar in the entire Europe,” says Professor Česlovas Kudaba when speaking of the Ribiškės relief.
